Release pending wages of Anganwadi workers, helpers before Eid : Tarigami

Srinagar, April 28 : CPI (M) leader Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami on Thursday alleged that Anganwadi workers and helpers working under the Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) scheme in Jammu and Kashmir are without wages for the past eight months. In a press statement, Tarigami urged the concerned authorities for the release of pending wages before Eid festival. The Eid festival is being celebrated either on Monday or Tuesday subject to the appearance of crescent. He said these scheme workers had worked tirelessly during the fight against Covid-19 pandemic and were at the forefront. These workers have to feed their families, but despite working hard, they are not paid their wages on time, he added. The central share and state share of their wages for several months is yet to be released, he claimed. Tarigami who has taken up this issue with the Chief Secretary Arum Kumar Mehta urging him for his immediate intervention into the matter.
