Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu and Department of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, Jammu jointly organized five days “Training of Trainers (TOT) Capacity Building of FPO’s in J&K” in collaboration with MANAGE-Hyderabad in the Division of Agricultural Extension Education, Faculty of Agriculture, Chatha from 06-10, January 2025. The capacity building programme has been organized under HADP-20 project entitled “Innovative Extension Approaches for Revitalizing Agriculture in Jammu & Kashmir”.
Dr. M. Srikanth, Director Agri. Business Management, National Institute of Agricultural Extension MANAGEMENT (MANAGE) was chief guest during the valedictory function. In his inaugural address, Dr. M. Srikanth appreciated the efforts of Division of Agricultural Extension Education, SKUAST-Jammu and Department of Agriculture, Jammu for organizing capacity building programme for the field functionaries of Agriculture Department on this important topic: Training of Trainers (TOT) Capacity Building of FPO’s in J&K. He informed the house that 45000 FPCs has been established across the country out of which only 11 percent are getting financial support from the banks. He emphasized that the business plans of the FPCs should be concrete and bankable. Moreover, the FPCs should have to maintain the records of their transactions.
Prof. Rajinder Peshin, Director Education, SKUAST, Jammu was guest of honour on the occasion. Prof. Peshin suggested that Kirkpatrick Model of training evaluation should be followed to assess the impact of training programmes. He highlights that the training is successful if the trainees applies the learning’s of the trainings in changing their attitudes.
Prof. Vinod Gupta, Head Division of Agricultural Extension Education/PI of the project entitled “Innovative Extension Approaches for Revitalizing Agricultural in J&K” thanked the dignitaries for accepting the invitation to act as chief guest and guest of honour during the valedictory function of the five days capacity building programme. He also extended his heartfelt thanks to the MANAGE, Hyderabad for deputing their faculty to act as resource persons for the said training programme.
Prof. P. S. Slathia, Division of Agricultural Extension Education formally welcomed all the dignitaries and participants at the valedictory function of five days capacity building programme, While the vote of thanks was extended by Ms. Rashmeet Kour, Ph. D. student of the Division of Agricultural Extension Education SKUAST-Jammu.
The programme was attended by more than 60 officers of Agriculture Department. The valedictory function was also graced by Prof. Rakesh Sharma, Prof. L. K. Sharma, Mr. Nagamalla Sricharan, Mr. Asif Mohi-Ud-Din, Mr. Parshotam and Mr. Reddy Resource Persons from MANAGE, Hyderabad.
