
Leh, – Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta has called for immediate action across all administrative departments of Ladakh, urging senior officials to eliminate pending files and accelerate development on the ground.
Chairing a high-level review meeting at the LG Secretariat, the Lt Governor assessed the functioning of key departments such as Revenue, Finance, Home, Police, Health, Forest, Labour, and the Pollution Control Committee. Emphasising transparent governance and timely project delivery, he reminded officials that visible progress must be felt by the people.
Chief Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal presented updates on core schemes including the digitisation of land records and the formation of new districts. He also outlined fiscal planning, including full utilisation of this year’s central budget through improved systems like PMFS and LIFMS.
The police department’s staffing and future plans were reviewed jointly with DGP Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal, who provided insights into ongoing initiatives and recruitment.
Post-lunch sessions focused on healthcare, where Principal Secretary Sanjeev Khirwar highlighted upgrades to medical infrastructure, health schemes like Anaemia Mukt Bharat, and the proposed Leh Medical College.
Wildlife Warden Mandeep Mittal detailed steps being taken to re-map wildlife sanctuaries for better harmony with local communities, along with notable projects such as the Hanle Dark Sky Reserve and animal rehabilitation efforts.
The Labour Department’s activities under the Ladakh Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (LBOCWWB) were also reviewed.
In his closing remarks, LG Gupta urged all departments to act with urgency, maintain accountability, and ensure no development file remains stuck. “Results must be seen on the ground, not just in reports,” he said, stressing the importance of timely, people-focused governance in Ladakh’s growth journey.
