Commits to Holistic Development of Ladakh with a Focus on Youth, Infrastructure, and Livelihood
Kargil: On his first visit to Kargil, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, held a series of interactions with public delegations at Bodh Kharbu, Mulbekh, Shargole, and Pashkum, reviewing ongoing development efforts and listening to local concerns.
At Bodh Kharbu, the HLG was warmly welcomed by Chairman/CEC of LAHDC Kargil Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhhoon, Executive Councillors Kacho Mohd Feroz and Zakir Hussain, Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar, SSP Shree Raam R, and other senior officials.
Expressing joy over visiting Kargil for the first time, the HLG assured swift relief to families affected by the recent cloudburst. A survey team has been formed to assess damages and recommend compensation.

Highlighting his vision for Ladakh, the Lt Governor stressed collaborative development involving LAHDC, district administration, and civil society, with special focus on youth empowerment, tourism, and infrastructure. Key concerns raised by locals—like road upgrades, improved healthcare and education, irrigation projects, and administrative facilities—will be thoroughly addressed, he said.
At Shargole, the HLG pledged to upgrade the local PHC into a CHC and promised the establishment of a Public Administration Complex to boost governance facilities. He also announced the construction of a guest house at Bodh Kharbu to accommodate visiting dignitaries.
During his visit to the ancient 8th-century Maitreya Buddha statue in Mulbekh, the HLG assured villagers that he would consider steps for its preservation and development.
Earlier, the HLG was greeted with traditional Khataks, folk performances, and warm hospitality by villagers, monks, nuns, and civil society members.
Chairman/CEC Dr. Jaffer Akhhoon welcomed the Lt Governor’s proactive approach and expressed hope that both Leh and Kargil districts would achieve balanced and inclusive growth under his leadership.
