Corona deaths concentrated in Maharashtra, Kerala

New Delhi, Jan 28 (UNI) Past 24 hours have proved to be more deadly for Maharashtra and Kerala, as the states witnessed the maximum number of deaths due to coronavirus.
The country in the last 24 hours registered 123 deaths due to the virus. During this period, 32 people succumbed in Maharashtra, while 20 lives were lost in Kerala.
Except for these two states, the figures of the dead could not reach the double digit in any state or union territory.
According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday morning, 11,666 new cases of infection have been reported in the last 24 hours, taking the number of infected people to more than 1.07 crore.
Total number of recoveries in the country surged to 1,03,73,606 with 14,301 recoveries during the past 24 hours.
Active cases have been reduced by 2,758 and now stands at 1,73,740.
During the same period 123 patients died and the death toll has gone up to 1.53.847. The recovery rate in the country has increased to 96.94 per cent and the rate of active cases has come down to 1.62 per cent, while the death rate is still 1.44 per cent.
