
The four-day training programme on “Gender Responsive Extension Services” concluded today at the Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) with a valedictory function graced by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. B.N. Tripathi, as Chief Guest.
In his valedictory address, Prof. Tripathi emphasized the significance of mainstreaming gender in agricultural extension to ensure inclusive growth and equitable participation of women in farming and allied activities. He highlighted that empowering women farmers through knowledge, skills, and access to resources is essential for achieving sustainability and rural prosperity.
Initially, Dr. Amrish Vaid, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu, extended a formal welcome and appreciated the contribution of resource persons and participants. He stressed that the training outcomes must be effectively translated into field-level action by extension personnel.
In her remarks, Dr. Hema Tripathi, Associate Director Extension highlighted the need for integrating gender perspectives in extension services and appreciated the active participation of trainees in adopting inclusive approaches for field application.
Dr. Veenita Kumari, Deputy Director (Gender Studies), MANAGE Hyderabad shared insights on gender-sensitive extension planning and tools for enhancing the participation of farm women.
Participants from different states actively engaged in feedback sessions during the programme. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of 35 officers and extension professionals from Jammu & Kashmir and 7 other states, who expressed that the training enriched their understanding and will help them integrate gender-responsive strategies into their extension work.
The programme was jointly organized by the MANAGE, HyderabadandSAMETI-Jammu, Directorate of Extension with support from resource experts and coordinators. Programme was also attended by Dr. Vinod Gupta, Prof. & Head, Div. of Agriculture Extension, Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Chief Scientist & Head, Ag. Economics & ABM and Dr. Mandeep Singh.
The valedictory function concluded with the distribution of training completion certificates to all the participants, followed by an expression of gratitude to all participants and organizers by Mrs. Puja Nayyar, Deputy Director (SAMETI). The event was moderated by Dr. Vijay K Sharma, Deputy Director Extension.
