
Jammu, The National Commission for Women (NCW), led by its Chairperson Smt. Vijaya Rahatkar, held a special Mahila Jan Sunwai under the initiative Rashtriya Mahila Ayog–Apke Dwar in Jammu. The program offered women an open platform to raise their concerns and receive instant solutions and guidance.
Several complaints were settled on the spot, reflecting NCW’s mission to ensure speedy justice and accessible support for women. The Chairperson appreciated the J&K Police for their active assistance in making the outreach effective.
DIG Jammu thanked NCW for choosing Jammu as the host city, calling the initiative a strong step towards building trust and cooperation between citizens and authorities in matters of women’s dignity and safety.
After the public hearing, the Commission conducted a review session with senior police and district officials. Directions were issued to further strengthen safety mechanisms and to organize awareness programs focusing on women’s security.
A presentation by DIG Jammu and District Administration showcased existing facilities, preventive measures, and crime data related to women’s safety.
The proceedings were attended by senior officers including Sh. Shiv Kumar (DIG JSK Range), Sh. Rakesh Minhas (DC Jammu), Sh. Joginder Singh (SSP Jammu), Sh. Virender Manhas (SSP Samba), Sh. Sandip Bhat (Addl. SP Udhampur), Sh. Rahul Charak (Addl. SP Kathua), and other zonal police officers of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, and Udhampur.
