NSS wing of F.V.Sc. & A.H., R.S. Pura, SKUAST-Jammu celebrates Gandhi Jayanti
The NSS unit of F.V.Sc. & A.H., R.S. Pura proudly organized a heartfelt celebration of Gandhi
Jayanti to commemorate the 156 th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the
Nation. The event aimed to spread the values of truth, non-violence, and service, which Gandhiji
stood for throughout his life.
The program commenced with the garlanding of Gandhiji’s portrait by Dr. Rajesh Katoch, Prof.
Veterinary Parasitology along with Dr Sanku Borkataki (Professor, VPA & NSS course In-
charge), Dr. Zuhaib Fayaz Bhat (Associate Professor, LPT & course co-instructor) and Dr.
Jasvinder Singh Sasan (Assistant Professor, VAN & course co-instructor). Dr. Rajesh Katoch, in
his address, encouraged students to embody Gandhiji’s values in their daily lives and emphasized
the importance of service to society.
As part of the celebration, a plantation and cleanliness drive was organized within the campus
where students enthusiastically participated in planting a variety of tree saplings, contributing to
the green cover and aesthetic enhancement of the campus. The activity aimed to instill a sense of
responsibility among students towards environmental conservation and climate action.
The NSS Course instructors appreciated the active participation of volunteers and reiterated the
role of youth in nation-building. The event concluded with a pledge by all present to follow the
path of truth, peace, and selfless service, inspired by Gandhiji’s teachings.
