CM Dhami wins Champawat by-election

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday won the by-election in the Champawat Assembly seat by more than 55,000 votes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated him for his thumping win.

Dhami defeated Nirmala Gahatodi of the Congress by 55,025 votes. None his rivals could save their security deposits. The Congress candidate got only 3,233 votes. Socialist-supported Manoj Kumar Bhatt got 413 votes and independent Himanshu Gadkoti 402. NOTA got 377 votes.
After he lost the assembly by-election from Khatima, the BJP had declared Dhami the candidate in Champawat.

The MLA from Champawat, Kailash Chandra Gahatodi, vacated the seat for him.
