
SKUAST-Jammu’s KBC organized training on Strategic Branding & Smart Packaging
under HADP
In a bold stride towards revolutionizing agriculture and cultivating a dynamic startup
ecosystem in Jammu, the Krishi Branding Centre, a pivotal unit of the SKUAST-J Agri-
Business Incubation (ABI) Foundation, registered under Section 8 of the Companies Act,
successfully conducted a three-day training program titled “Propelling Agribusiness Growth
through Strategic Branding & Smart Packaging” from October 6-8, 2025, under the Holistic
Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).
Under the visionary leadership of Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-
Jammu and driven by the dynamic guidance of Prof. Jyoti Kachroo, Director of SKUAST-J
ABI Foundation and Principal Investigator of the Krishi Branding Centre (HADP Project No.
4), the program equipped officers from Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and allied
departments of Horticulture Planning and Marketing, Agricultural deptt, Horticulture Animal
Husbandry, and Sheep Husbandry with cutting-edge expertise to mentor farmers and Farmer
Producer Organizations (FPOs). Participants were equipped with a comprehensive set of
skills including brand development and identity creation to craft distinctive market
recognition for agricultural products, cost-return analysis to assess agribusiness profitability
and scalability and innovative, eco-conscious packaging techniques to align with
environmental stewardship. The training also covered securing certifications such as
Trademark registration, AGMARK Certification FSSAI etc. to enhance product credibility
and consumer confidence. The training programme also focused on the impact and process
of incubation for nurturing the raw ideas into viable commercial products with the intricacies
from product manufacturing set up to Marketing and brand promotion.
Prof. Jyoti Kachroo’s relentless leadership has positioned the Krishi Branding Centre as a
cornerstone of entrepreneurial excellence, nurturing Jammu’s thriving startup ecosystem.
Esteemed experts from SKUAST-Jammu, IIM Jammu, ICAR-CIPHET Ludhiana, AIC-IIIM
Bioinnovation Foundation, GaavSe Maharashtra and 4Sixes Packaging enriched the program
with real-world insights and compelling case studies, demonstrating how sustainable
packaging and strategic branding can transform local produce into high-demand, globally
competitive products.
The program culminated in a vibrant valedictory ceremony where participants received
certificates, celebrating their readiness to drive transformative change in agribusiness. Dr.
Anil Bhat, Associate Director of Research delivered vote of thanks acknowledging the
collective commitment to this pioneering initiative.
