Heroin valued over Rs 1725 cr seized

New Delhi, Sep 21 : In one the biggest seizures of Heroin, about 312 kg meth and 10 kg of heroin which were to be peddled in India were seized by the Special Cell of Delhi Police. According to the police, the Special Cell recovered 20 tones of Licorice roots soaked with Heroin. Total narcotics soaked in the licorice consignment estimated to be around 345 kg. Two Afghan nationals, Mustafa Stanikzai and Rahimullah Rahimi, were arrested in the case.

India, UK to conclude FTA by end of 2022

New Delhi, April 22 : India and the United Kingdom have decided to conclude a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries by the end of this year. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a joint press conference with his United Kingdom counterpart Boris Johnson following delegation level talks in Hyderabad House on Friday. "We had launched an ambitious Roadmap 2030 to give direction to our relationship in this decade. In our conversation today, we reviewed the progress made in this roadmap, and set some targets for the times to come.

Afghanistan accident kills 4

Nili (Afghanistan), Jan 7 (UNI/Xinhua) Four commuters in Afghanistan were killed and four others injured as a mini bus plunged into a river in Daykundi province, the government said on Friday. The bus with eight commuters was headed to Gizab district on Thursday evening but slipped in the icy road and plunged into Helmand river, leaving four women dead, an official said. The conditions of roads in Afghanistan usually turn from bad to worse in winter as many become icy and slippy due to snowfall.

Taliban cuts border wire erected by Pakistani forces

Kabul, Dec 21 : Taliban forces have destroyed a barbed wire erected by Pakistani forces on the Durand line which divides Afghanistan and Pakistan, the Afghan media reported on Tuesday. The incident took place in Gushta district in the eastern province of Nangarhar and the Taliban brought the destroyed barbed wire into Afghanistan.

US, Taliban officials to hold talks in Doha over weekend

Washington, Oct 9 (UNI/Xinhua) A U.S. delegation will travel to Doha, Qatar, over the weekend to meet with senior Afghan Taliban representatives, the State Department said. "This meeting is a continuation of the pragmatic engagements with the Taliban on issues of U.S. vital national interest," a State Department spokesperson told reporters on Friday, noting it is "not about granting recognition or conferring legitimacy."
