Air pollution claimed 54,000 lives in Delhi last year: Greenpeace

New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) PM2.5 air pollution was behind an estimated 54,000 death in Delhi, Greenpeace said on Thursday. PM2.5 refers to fine particulate matter smaller than 2.5 micrometers in diameter. Exposure to PM2.5 is considered the most important environmental risk factor for deaths globally, and was attributed to 4.2 million premature deaths in 2015.

New Delhi, Oct 24 (UNI) The air quality in Delhi-NCR remained "very poor" on Saturday morning according to real time air monitoring agency SAFAR. At the time of filing of report, the Air Quality Index in Delhi was 321 (very poor) for pollutant PM10 and 169 (very poor) for PM2.5.

Centre expresses commitment to end air pollution

New Delhi, Oct 13(UNI) Amid increasing concerns on rising levels of air pollution in the National Capital due to stubble burning, the Central Government on Tuesday expressed its commitment to end air pollution in the country, and said that it has taken various initiatives to curb pollution in the last six years.
