Dispose of Mathura case quickly: Allahabad HC

Prayagraj, May 12 : The Allahabad High Court on Thursday directed the Sessions Court in Mathura to dispose of an application related to Bhagwan Shri Krishna Virajman and another versus the Sunni Central Waqf Board and three others in four months. Justice Salil Kumar Rai said: "The Civil Judge, Mathura, is directed to decide the aforesaid applications expeditiously, preferably within four months from the date a certified copy of this order is produced before him and after giving an opportunity of hearing to the affected parties, in case there is no legal impediment." One Manish Yadav, claiming himself to be a descendent of Lord Krishna, has filed an application in the court of Civil Judge and stated that 13.37 acre land belongs to Bhagwan Shri Krishna Virajman in Mathura. He claimed that around 1.45 acre of land had been encroached by the Eidgah.

HC dismisses PIL to open closed rooms of Taj

Lucknow, May 12 : The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Thursday dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking direction to open 20 rooms of the Taj Mahal and setting up a fact finding team to study them. The PIL filed by Dr Rajneesh Singh was dismissed by Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Subhash Vidyarthi. Referring to a book written by historian P N Oak, the petition claimed that the Taj Mahal was actually Tejomahalay, which was built by Raja Parmardi Dev in 1212 AD. It claimed that there is a Shiva temple behind the closed doors of the 17th century Taj. The petitioner sought direction to constitute a fact finding committee to study the monument and to open the 20 closed rooms of the Taj.

New Delhi, Apr 20 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted an interim stay on the Allahabad High Court order to impose a lockdown in the five cities of Uttar Pradesh on account of the prevailing COVID-19 situation. The Bench of Chief Justice of India SA Bobde and Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian issued a notice in the appeal filed by the Uttar Pradesh government returnable in two weeks.

SC upholds Allahabad HC order of setting free Dr Kafeel Khan

New Delhi, Dec 17 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the Allahabad High Court order of quashing the stringent National Security Act (NSA) slapped on Gorakhpur doctor Kafeel Khan and releasing him from detention. Rejecting an appeal by the Uttar Pradesh government against the HC order, a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India SA Bobde and also comprising Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian stated that the court did not find any reason to interfere in the order.
