CBI nabs CGST officer

Bhopal, Apr 21 : The CBI has placed under arrest a CGST and Central Excise official, posted here, while accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh. A case was registered against two superintendents, namely Ankur Khandelwal and Chetan Saxena, on the basis of a complaint that they initially demanded inducement of Rs 10 lakh for 'settling' a CGST case against the complainant's partnership firm. The federal investigating agency laid a trap and apprehended Khandelwal on Wednesday, a CBI release said. Searches conducted on the local premises of both accused led to seizure of incriminating documents and articles.

COVID-19: 127 active cases in MP

Bhopal, Sep 29 : Eight fresh instances of novel coronavirus infection were reported in Madhya Pradesh over the past 24 hours even as five individuals recuperated and the active cases number 127. “The prevalence rate is 0.01 per cent and recovery rate 98.60 per cent. A total 61,937 samples were analysed on Tuesday,” state Home Minister and government spokesman Narottam Mishra told the press here on Wednesday.

L Murugan elected to RS from MP

Bhopal, Sep 27 : Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L Murugan was on Monday declared elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha form Madhya Pradesh as a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate in a lone by-election. The formal announcement was made by Principal Secretary (Assembly) AP Singh on expiration of the 1500 hrs deadline for withdrawal of candidature. Dr Murugan reached the Vidhan Sabha for obtaining the certificate.

Cong alleges suicide by ryot in MP

Bhopal, Sep 17 : Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President Kamal Nath alleged on Friday that a debt-ridden farmer has committed suicide in Ashoknagar District owing to crop damage. “Cultivators continue to end their lives in this state. The latest instance is Mahendra Singh Raghuvanshi of Karkhya village. When will the government emerge from celebrations and understand peasants’ troubles, ensure justice for the segment and provide relief?” the former chief minister conveyed via social media.
