Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi organizes Training Programme for Rural Youths

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu organized training programme on “Commercial floriculture” here today at KVK, Reasi Reasi campus which was enthusiastically attended by the number of floriculturists and aspiring entrepreneurs of the distt. The programme was organised under the ARYA (Attracting and Retaining Youths in Agriculture) project. All SOPs pertaining to COVID-19 pandemic were strictly followed while conducting the programme.

VC SKUAST-Jammu inaugurates 14 days Workshop on Molecular Biology and Immunology...

Inauguration of 14 days workshop With the recent emphasis on ‘One Health’ concept and Covid-19 pandemic, the understanding gathered in molecular biology and immunological principles has developed convergently establishing the fundamental principles of diseases in human, plants and animals. In this context, Prof. J.P. Sharma, Vice- Chancellor, SKUAST-J inaugurated, 14 days workshop on “Molecular Biology and Immunology Techniques”. The course is organized by Division of Veterinary Parasitology, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-J, at R.S. Pura campus and being funded by Science and Engineering Research Board, DST, New Delhi. In the inaugural address, Prof. J.P. Sharma, highlighted the contribution of molecular genetics and breeding in India’s Green Revolution commenced in 1968 under the leadership of agricultural scientist Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, and the present scenario of high yielding hybrid crops and animal breeds. He further stressed that he is very optimistic that the workshop will prove to be instrumental in preparing young researchers as next generation scientists by training them in fundamental principles of the modern biological tools.

DAK calls for flu testing amid Covid-19 pandemic

Srinagar, Oct 5 With the onset of flu season amid Covid-19 pandemic, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Tuesday urged authorities to make influenza testing kits available in Kashmir. “Covid and flu have similar symptoms and it is hard to diagnose which condition you have based on your symptoms alone,” said DAK President and influenza expert Dr Nisar ul Hassan in a statement. “Testing is the only way to differentiate flu from COVID,” he said adding we need to test for both flu and COVID to know which viral infection a person has so that he or she can receive timely and appropriate treatment.

Jammu, Jun 7 (UNI) To further strengthen the health and medical infrastructure in fight against COVID-19 pandemic, in the last two months, more than 25 lakh tests were performed while oxygen supported beds were also increased manifold across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

IMA demands creation of new ministry to deal with COVID-19 crisis

New Delhi, May 8 (UNI) The Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Saturday demanded the formulation of a separate ministry to deal with COVID-19 crisis and related issues as according to the association the existing Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has totally failed on all fronts, be it controlling the transmission or strengthening the health infrastructure or vaccinating the population.
