Foreign tourists trickling back to India, tour operators remain optimistic

New Delhi, Apr 24 : As the third wave of Covid pandemic started waning in February, foreign tourist arrivals (FTAs) showed uptick stoking hopes of revival of tourism and hospitality sector battered by the outbreak of deadly virus. Tourism Ministry data shows FTAs increased to 2.40 lakh into the country in February, 2022 as compared to 2.01 lakh in the previous month. This is big respite for local tour operators and other players in the sector given the fact that FTAs had in December 2021 surged to 3.03 lakh but fell in the following month due to Covid infection fears. FTAs in October and November of 2021 were 1.81 lakh and 2.51 lakh respectively.

Jammu, Oct 8 : The flights suspended due to COVID pandemic are set to resume as private airlines will soon start the operations from Jammu Airport to Amritsar and other prominent destinations. According to an official, the airlines will start operations from October 10 for Chandigarh, Dehradun, Amritsar and Jaipur from Jammu Airport.

World Economic Forum cancels Singapore meet in view of Covid pandemic

New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) The World Economic Forum on Monday cancelled its Special Annual Meeting in Singapore which was to take place just three months from now. The next Annual Meeting will instead take place in the first half of 2022, WEF said in a statement. Final location and date will be determined based on an assessment of the situation later this summer.
