Bengaluru, Oct 19 : Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (Kassia) has urged Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to immediately cut 35 per cent sales tax on fuel and the centre to reduce Rs 32.90 excise duty charged on fuel per litre. "The workers are demanding to increase their salaries to meet their rising commuting cost as most of them use their own vehicle for commuting. Even in the case of those workers who use public transport for work, there is a real possibility that they too will be increasing the fare sooner than later," the Kassia said in a statement.
Udupi Sep 24 : Four tourists were rescued from drowning at Malpe Beach by lifeguards on Thursday late evening police said on Friday. According to the police, four tourists from Gulbarga, Anil Kumar (21̧) Abbas Ali (19) Anil (21) and another tourist Nithin (18) from Mandya had come to the beach on a tour. When they ventured into the sea all the four were swept away by the waves. Lifeguard Madhukar Salian, along with other lifeguards were able to rescue all the four tourists, said the police.

Bengaluru, May 25 (UNI) In order to further strengthen the health sector in Karnataka, the State government has appointed 1,763 doctors, Minister for Health and Medical Education Dr K Sudhakar said on Tuesday. Speaking after holding Covid-19 and black fungus meeting, he said that the process of direct appointment was completed. Out of 1763, 715 expert doctors besides 1048 general doctors were also appointed which would help in the health sector .
Bellary, Karnataka, Apr 29 (UNI) Steel major JSW Steel will commence supply of 1000 tons of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) daily from April 30. In an official statement here on Thursday, the company said: ' Responding to the recent surge in demand for LMO, JSW Steel has ramped up and will commence supply of 1000 tons of liquid oxygen supply from tomorrow (April 30). The total supply by JSW Steel during April 2021 is expected to be more than 20,000 tonnes from all its plants. JSW Steel is supplying liquid oxygen from its three manufacturing facilities in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu to various States across India."
