COVID: Nepal records 1,855 more cases, 24 more deaths

Kathmandu, Jul 22 : Nepal on Thursday recorded 1855 more cases of Covid-19 and 24 more virus related fatalities said the country's health authorities. Addition of these new cases takes the nation's overall case tally to 674,726 while the death toll now stands at 9661. The past 24 hours also saw 1288 recoveries, total number of recovered people now stand at 637,690. A report in the Himalayan Times said that Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate currently stands at 94.5 pc, while the fatality rate stands at 1.5 pc. The country's active Covid-19 case count is 27,375.

Kathmandu, May 14 (UNI) K P Sarma Oli took oath of office on Friday after being reappointed as Prime Minister of Nepal a day earlier, as other parties failed to form a coalition government to take his place. President Bidya Devi Bhandari administered the oath to Oli and 24 ministers in his cabinet. Oli got reappointed as head of a minority government since other parties had failed to garner a majority of support from lawmakers to form a new government by Thursday evening as set by the president. On Monday, President Bhandari had called political parties for the formation of a coalition government by 21:00 hrs on Thursday evening after Oli lost a vote of confidence in Parliament.

Nepal registers 1,313 COVID cases, tally reaches 70,614

Kathmandu, Sep 25 (UNI) Nepal recorded as many as 1,313 new cases of Novel Coronavirus infection on Friday, taking the tally in the country to 70,614, while the COVID fatalities rose by six, taking the total number of deaths across the country to 459. Currently, there are as many as 18,289 active cases across the county, which includes 8,237 people in institutional isolation and 10,052 in home isolation, The Himalayan Times reported. At present 6,464 people are staying at various quarantine facilities across the country. Around 1,455 people, who had earlier contracted the contagion, tested negative for the infection, as per the data released by the country's Health ministry. So far, 51,866 people have recovered from the disease across the country.
