KRISHI VIGYAN KENDRA RAMBAN OF SKUAST-JAMMU APPROVED

Krishi Vigyan Kendra for district Ramban has been approved by Indian Council of Agriculture Research,New Delhi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu. The proposal of KVK Ramban was long pending with the ICAR due to non-availability of land in favour of SKUAST Jammu.With the kind intervention of Shri Manoj Sinha, Honourable Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and concerted efforts of Professor J.P. Sharma Vice-Chancellor SKUAST Jammu, 117.18 kanals (5.859 ha) of land at Village Dalwas was transferred to SKUAST Jammu for the establishment of new KVK.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu organized training programme on “Commercial floriculture” here today at KVK, Reasi Reasi campus which was enthusiastically attended by the number of floriculturists and aspiring entrepreneurs of the distt. The programme was organised under the ARYA (Attracting and Retaining Youths in Agriculture) project. All SOPs pertaining to COVID-19 pandemic were strictly followed while conducting the programme.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jammu working under the able leadership of Professor J. P. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and guidance of Dr. S. K. Gupta, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu, successfully conducted a one-day In-service training programme on “Quality seed production in field crops” at KVK Jammu for the Extension Officers from Department of Agriculture. At the outset Dr. Punit Choudhary, Sr. Scientist and Head, KVK Jammu welcomed the participants in to the programme. He also said that this training is organized to refresh the knowledge of officers of agriculture department on the production of quality seed. The programme was also attended by some progressive farmers from Marh zone. During the programme all the topics related to field crops were covered. At the start of the training programme Pre assessment test was conducted for all the participants. Dr. Vishal Raina, Junior Scientist, Mega Seed Project, SKUAST-Jammu delivered lecture on importance of Seed processing for quality seed in field crops.

Jammu : Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jammu working under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu started 15 days’ certificate course on “Integrated Nutrient Management (INM)” for Input dealers. Prof. J. P. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, was chief guest at this occasion where as, Prof. S. K. Gupta, Director Extension SKUAST-Jammu, Sh. B. K. Chandan, Director Law Enforcement, UT of J&K and Sh. Bahadur Ram, IFFCO Area Marketing Manager, Jammu were Guests of Honor. Sh. Arvind Baru, Chief agriculture Officer, Jammu, Sh. Roshan Lal, Assistant Director law and enforcement, Jammu and other officers of line departments were also attended the inaugural function. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Jagdish Prasaad Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu briefed that Agri-input dealers in the country are a prime source of farm information to the farming community, besides the supply of inputs and credit. He also stressed on Post Production Agriculture, Processing, Value addition, marketing and branding of the produce of the farmer for making the agriculture more profitable. should be added. He also suggested that KVK Jammu should also encourage farmers to promote one village Eco tourism in their respected villages. Prof. S. K. Gupta, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu appreciated the efforts of KVK Jammu for conducting this certificate course on INM for new input dealers. Sh. B. K. Chandan, Director Law Enforcement, UT of J&K, appreciated the role of KVK Jammu for conducting this course, which will ensure that input dealers have the knowledge regarding the various types of fertilizers and their recommended dose in various crops. Sh. Bahadur Ram, IFFCO Area Marketing Manager, Jammu in his address suggested the addition of some practicals related to the maintainence of stock register, DBT by Input dealers and their interaction with the existing dealers. At the outset Dr. Punit Choudhary, Sr. Scientist and Head, KVK Jammu welcomed the dignitaries and participantsin to the programme He also apprised that the participants from three districts of Division Jammu are participating in this programme. Sh. Arvind Baru, Chief agriculture Officer, Jammu praised the KVK Jammu for organizing this certificate course for the farmers and need for educating the new trainees regarding the nano and biofertilizers in the farmer’s field.

Prof. S. K. Gupta, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu was Chief Guest at this occasion. Speaking on this occasion he apprised the farmers that today’s programme is celebrated as a part of nationwide campaignunder the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava’.
