Mexico City, Oct 9 (UNI/Xinhua) A new joint security plan between the United States and Mexico was discussed on Friday, which was described by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken as the beginning of a "new chapter" in security cooperation between the two countries. At the conclusion of the U.S.-Mexico High-Level Security Dialogue in Mexico City, representatives agreed to end the Merida Initiative and launch a new alliance dubbed the Bicentennial Framework for Security, Public Health and Safe Communities.

In Havana, the arrival of the ship, which delivered food, medicine and oxygen, was welcomed by Cuban Foreign Trade and Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca.

Death toll from subway overpass collapse in Mexico City rises to...

MEXICO CITY, May 8 (Sputnik) – The number of people, who died as a result of subway overpass collapse in Mexico City, has increased to 26, the city authorities said. "As of 9:00 p.m., May 7 [02:00, May 8 GMT], 33 people are hospitalized, 26 have died, 53 have been released from hospitals, one more person is missing," the city government said in a statement. A subway overpass and a train collapsed onto a road between the Olivos and Tezonco stations at 10:00 p.m. local time on Monday. An investigation into the incident is underway.

Over 30 people killed within week of Colombian protests – Institute

Mexico City, May 6 (Sputnik) – At least 31 people have died, 1,220 more have been injured and 87 have gone missing within a week of protests in Colombia, the Institute for Development and Peace Studies said. "31 people have been killed between April 28 and May 4, more than three cases are to be confirmed," the institute said on late Wednesday. According to the institute, the protests left 1,220 protesters injured, with 18 of them having sustained eye traumas. In nine cases, police officers resorted to sexual harassment toward women. The largest number of fatalities – 24 ones – has been registered in the western city of Cali. On late Wednesday, a group of radical protesters tried to rush into the Congress building when lawmakers gathered to discuss the situation around the rallies.

Mexico welcomes Biden’s executive order to halt border wall construction

Mexico City, Jan 21 (Sputnik) Mexican Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard has welcomed US President Joe Biden's newly signed executive order to halt the construction of the wall on the US-Mexico border. Democrat Biden was sworn in as the 46th President of the United States on January 20. Just hours after the inauguration ceremony, he embarked on finalizing 17 executive orders to reverse some of his predecessor's policies.
