Moscow, Jan 7 (UNI/Sputnik) Russia has confirmed 16,735 new cases of Covid 19, taking the cumulative total to 10,618,035, the Federal Response Center said on Friday. "Over the past 24 hours, 16,735 Covid 19 cases have been confirmed in 85 regions in Russia, including 1,834 cases (11.0 per cent) without clinical symptoms," the Center said. Moscow logged the highest tally of 3,694 new infections followed by Saint Petersburg with 1,291. As many as 787 coronavirus patients have died in Russia in the past 24 hours.

MOSCOW, Jun 5 (Sputnik) The coronavirus death toll in Brazil has exceeded 470,000 people, the country's Ministry of Health said in a statement. According to the ministry, the overall number of registered cases of COVID-19 in the country stands at 16,841,408, with 470,842 deaths. Over the past 24 hours, doctors in Brazil have recorded 37,936 new cases of coronavirus infection and 1,454 deaths.

Moscow, Dec 17 (Sputnik) The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will give a grant worth $1 billion to help countries in Latin America and the Caribbean region to purchase vaccines against COVID-19. "The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) announced that it will mobilize $1billion to help Latin American and Caribbean countries acquire and distribute COVID-19 vaccines," the authority said in a press release published on Wednesday.

Moscow, Dec 17 (Sputnik) The Russian armed forces will receive the first 10 latest combat transport helicopters Mi-8AMTSh-VN in 2021, the defense ministry told reporters on Thursday. "In 2021, the armed forces will receive the first 10 Mi-8AMTSh-VN helicopters, which will be in particular used by army aviation brigades that work for the airborne forces," the ministry said, following Russian Deputy Minister of Defence Alexey Krivoruchko's visit to the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant.
