IPL: Unchanged PBKS opt to bat vs RR

Mumbai, May 7 : Punjab Kings have won the toss and elected to bat against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match here at Wankhede Stadium on Saturday. Punjab have unchanged side while Yashasvi Jaiswal replaced Karun Nair in the Rajasthan line-up. After the toss, PBKS skipper Mayank Agarwal said: " We'd like to bat first. Court extends judicial custody of Nawab Malik till May 20

Mumbai, May 6 : A Special PMLA Court here on Friday extended the judicial custody of Maharashtra Cabinet Minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik till May 20 for his alleged involvement in a money laundering case and alleged property deals with family members of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim. Malik who was arrested by ED on February 23 is presently admitted in ICU of government run J J hospital for his kidney ailment. He was earlier lodged in Arthur road jail. Earlier, sessions judge RK Rokade allowed him medicine, a bed, mattress, and chair during his stay in jail.

20 closed CIL mines started for reoperationalisation on revenue sharing model

Mumbai, May 6 : In a bid to ensure availability of large stocks of coal in the near future to meet the rising demand and to reduce dependence on imported coal, the Ministry of Coal on Friday opened up closed or discontinued mines of CIL for private players on a revenue sharing model. Speaking at the launch of the closed mines of state-run Coal India at an event organised here, Union Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi said the demand for coal will go up significantly in the days to come. Under this new scheme, Coal India has proposed to open up 20 closed mines of its subsidiaries for re-operationalisation by the private players, wherein the latter will be able to sell the extracted coal in the market at the prevalent rates.

Sensex drops 84.88 points

Mumbai, May 2 : The BSE Sensex on Monday fell further by 84.88 points to settle at 56,975.99 as selling was seen in consumer durables, telecom, IT and auto stocks. The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too slipped 33.45 points at 17,069.10. The Sensex dropped 631 points to open at 56,429.45. It plummeted 648 points at 56,412 points, the day's low, before closing at 56,975.99, easing 84.88 points from its previous close. The Sensex registered the day's high and low at 57,054.23 and 56,412.

Mumbai, April 28 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Thursday recovered 170.82 pts at 56,990.21 as buying was seen across the board. The Nifty gained 72 pts at 17,111.20. The Mid moved up 0.29 pc and Small Cap by 0.06 pc. In 30 scrips, 20 advanced and 10 declined. The gainers were Asian Paints by 2.33 pc to Rs 3221.50, Hind Unilever by 1.62 pc to Rs 2178.90, Maruti Suzuki by 1.49 pc to be 7903.95 and Sun Pharma by 1.12 pc to Rs 916. The losers were HCL Technology by 1.51 pc to Rs 1079.40, Bajaj finance by 1.08 pc to Rs 6544.10, Bharti Airtel by 0.54 pc to Rs 749.45 and Bajaj Finserv by 0.46 pc to Rs 14,760.50.

Rupee falls 11 paise against USD,

Mumbai, April 28 : The Rupee on Thursday slipped eleven paise at 76.64 in opening session against the US Dollar on rising demand for US Dollar by bankers and importers, dealers at the Foreign Exchange said. The Rupee was seen weak owing to strong Dollar against other world currencies, amid rebounding opening in stock market, the dealer informed. Mumbai, April 26 : Shikhar Dhawan became No. 1 batsman to score the runs against a single rival in the Indian Premier League, surpassing Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma's record. The Punjab Kings batsman has scored a total of 1029 runs against Chennai Super Kings and Rohit got 1018 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders.
