Centre is answerable to people of Delhi: SC over oxygen shortage

New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Friday reminded the central government that it has a "special responsibility" towards Delhi and is also answerable to the people of the national capital. "Delhi represents the nation and there is hardly anyone ethnically Delhite…You have a special responsibility as the Centre", Justice DY Chandrachud of a three-judge bench said as quoted by Livelaw.

COVID: 22,933 test positive in Delhi, 350 more die in past...

New Delhi, Apr 25 (UNI) The national capital on Sunday reported a massive spike of 22,933 fresh cases of COVID-19 while 350 people lost their lives. The new infections took the city's caseload to 10,27,715 and the death toll to 14,248.

Delhi records biggest spike of nearly 20k COVID case, 141 deaths

New Delhi, Apr 16 (UNI) The national capital on Friday reported largest single-day spike of 19,486 new cases of COVID-19 while 141 people lost their lives. The new additions took the national capital's caseload to 8,03,623 and the death toll to 11,793. The city's positivity rate is 19.69 per cent. As many as 98,957 people were tested in the past one day. The recovery rate has now decreased to 90.94 per cent even as 12,649 were cured and discharged in past 24 hours.

Kejriwal appeals to Centre to withdraw GNCTD (Amendment) bill

New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday urged the Centre to take back amendment to the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) bill, which makes it mandatory for the Delhi government to take the opinion of the Lieutenant Governor (LG) before any executive action in the National Capital.

Delhi reports ‘zero’ COVID deaths in past one day

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) The national capital -- Delhi -- for the fourth time in this month has reported zero casualties during the past 24 hours. As many as 220 new cases were detected in the past one day. The fresh figures have taken the capital caseload to 6,38,593 while the death toll remained steady at 10,905.

Nursery admissions to start soon in Delhi: CM

New Delhi, Feb 2 (UNI) Admission process for nursery will start soon in the National Capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday. "Children want to go back to schools and colleges but parents and teachers are worried. Since vaccines are here, we hope we will be able to open schools soon," he said while hinting on reopening of schools for classes 1 to 8.

Thick fog covers Delhi, min temp drops to 3.8 degrees C

New Delhi, Jan 28 (UNI) Delhiites woke up to a dense fog on Thursday, with the minimum temperature dipping to 3.8 degrees Celsius, five notches below normal. Moderate fog lowered the visibility to less than 50 meters in several parts of the National Capital.
