PM Modi, Nepalese PM perform shilanyas ceremony for International Buddhist Culture...

Lumbini/New Delhi, May 16 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with his Nepalese counterpart Sher Bahadur Deuba, performed the shilanyas ceremony on Monday for construction of the India International Centre for Buddhist Culture and Heritage in the Lumbini Monastic Zone, in Lumbini, Nepal. The Centre will be constructed by the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), New Delhi, on a plot allocated to IBC by the Lumbini Development Trust (LDT), under an agreement between IBC and LDT signed in March 2022. After the shilanyas ceremony, which was performed by monks belonging to three major Buddhist traditions, Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana, the two Prime Ministers also unveiled a model of the Centre.

Lakhimpur Kheri, Oct 8 : Union minister of state for home Ajay Mishra Teni's son Ashish has not reported at the crime branch here on Friday till 1000 hrs. Entire police teams are stationed at the crime branch but Ashish Mishra is still absconding, sources here said. On the other hand it has been reported that Ashish could have fled to nearby Nepal through Uttarakhand as his last mobile location was detected at Gaurifanta in Uttarakhand last night, which is very close to the Nepal border, the sources added.

COVID: Nepal records 1,855 more cases, 24 more deaths

Kathmandu, Jul 22 : Nepal on Thursday recorded 1855 more cases of Covid-19 and 24 more virus related fatalities said the country's health authorities. Addition of these new cases takes the nation's overall case tally to 674,726 while the death toll now stands at 9661. The past 24 hours also saw 1288 recoveries, total number of recovered people now stand at 637,690. A report in the Himalayan Times said that Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate currently stands at 94.5 pc, while the fatality rate stands at 1.5 pc. The country's active Covid-19 case count is 27,375.

Nepal suspending international flights from May 6 over COVID-19

New Delhi, May 6 (UNI) Nepal will suspend international flights from 23:59 local time on May 6 due to an increase in the number of coronavirus cases. The decision to ban international and domestic flights was made on Sunday, after the country recorded the largest increase in cases - 7,137 new cases of COVID-19. The overall case tally in Nepal exceeded 351,000, with over 287,000 recoveries and 3,400 deaths. Health Minister Hridayesh Tripathi said the decision to suspend international traffic will be in effect until May 14.

India, Nepal to start air bubble arrangement

New Delhi, Dec 10 (UNI) India and Nepal have decided to open flights under a bilateral bubble arrangement for restarting commercial flights, after months of disruption caused by the global pandemic of COVID-19. India has such arrangement with over 20 countries, including Japan, Ethiopia, Maldives, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Oman, the US, Canada, France and Germany, among others.
