IndiGo announces the appointment of Jiten Chopra as Chief Financial Officer
Gurgaon, Feb 10 (UNI) InterGlobe Aviation Ltd (IndiGo) has announced the appointment of Jiten Chopra as Chief Financial Officer effective February 21, 2021. Jiten will report to Ronojoy Dutta, Whole Time Director and CEO. Jiten succeeds Aditya Pande who is leaving IndiGo to pursue other interests.
Ronojoy Dutta said, “We are fortunate and excited at Jiten accepting this position. His enormous expertise prior to IndiGo and his experience since February 2020 when he joined us, will greatly strengthen our team as we continue to build a world class national air transportation network.”

Naidu hails farmers for jump in pulses production
New Delhi, Feb 10(UNI) Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday hailed the farmers for a significant jump in pulses production and advocated its inclusion in the daily diet of every individual.
On the occasion of World Pulses Day, Mr Naidu, in a message, said the production of pulses has increased, the credit of which goes to the cultivators.
R-day violence: One more accused arrested
New Delhi, Feb 10 (UNI) The Delhi police special on Wednesday said that it has arrested one more person in connection with the Red fort violence on the Republic day.
The accused Ikbal Singh, who carried a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head, was arrested by northern range of Special cell from Hoshiarpur district of Punjab on late Tuesday.
India reports 11,067 new cases of COVID-19, 94 die
New Delhi, Feb 10 (UNI) India on Wednesday recorded 11,067 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, pushing the country caseload to 1,08,58,371, while the death toll soared to 1,55,252 with 94 more fatalities.
The figure of daily deaths remained below hundred for the fifth consecutive day. Six States account for 80.85 per cent of the daily deaths. Maharashtra saw the maximum 35 casualties followed by Kerala 19 and Punjab 8.
Road cutting banned in NDMC areas till March 31
New Delhi, Feb 10 (UNI) The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has banned road cutting in its areas till March 31 except for urgent repair or maintenance work keeping in view ensuing Swachch Sarvekshan-2021.
"There will be ban on road cutting from February 9 to March 31, except for urgent repairs, maintenance work for restoration of services," Chief Engineer, Sanjay Gupta, said in a circular on Tuesday evening.
Editors Guild comes in support of NewsClick, criticises ED raids
New Delhi, Feb 10 (UNI) The Editors Guild of India on Wednesday expressed "deep concern" over the Enforcement Directorate raids at the office of media portal NewsClick, and residence of its senior journalists and officials.
The Guild said the website --newsclick.in-- has been at the frontline of reporting on the farmers agitation, anti-CAA protests, and critical of various government policies and few powerful corporate houses.

India-US start joint military exercise in Bikaner
New Delhi, Feb 8 (UNI) Armies of India and the US on Monday commenced the Joint military exercise at the Mahajan Field Firing Range, situated in Bikaner town of Rajasthan.
The joint exercise would see the two armies sharing their experiences and skill sets among themselves. The military exercise started off with unfurling of flags of the two countries and playing of the national anthems- India's 'Jana Gana Mana' and US' national anthem 'The Star-Spangled Banner'.
Indian Railways registers highest-ever loading figure in January 2021
New Delhi, Feb 9 (UNI) Indian Railways has registered highest-ever loading figure 119.79 MT in January 2021, indicating fast moving economic upswing. The last best was in March 2019 as 119.74 MT.
Indian Railways' Freight loading for the last few months have crossed last year's loading and earnings for the same period, Ministry of Railways said in a statement on Tuesday. It is expected that cumulative freight loading will surpass last year’s freight loading figures.
