Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kathua under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu today organized Training cum demonstration on drone technology in collaboration with Garuda Aerospace Limited in NICRA Cluster covering Kannah, Said, Sohal, Badohli, Loukhali. The Program was organised under the dynamic leadership of Prof. J.P Sharma Honourable Vice chancellor of SKUAST Jammu. The Program was inaugurated by Rajiv Jasrotia Ex. Forest Minister along with sarpanches and panches of various panchayts of the villages covered under NICRA cluster. The programme was attended by more than 100 persons including farmers and farm women.
NSS unit of Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-Jammu, R.S Pura celebrated ‘Iconic Week’ as a part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” to sensitize the NSS volunteers about the spirit of ‘Jan Bhagidari and Jan Andolan’ under the able leadership of Prof. J.P. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor , SKUAST-Jammu.
An outbreak of skin disease among dairy animals from various districts of the Jammu division has been reported. Cattle are primarily affected. The major symptoms of the disease include multiple nodules all over the body, swelling of limbs and lymph nodes, fever, lameness, decreased milk production, discharges from the eyes and nose, edema, pneumonia, and abortion in pregnant animals.
The one-week training programme on Big Data Analysis and Research Methods, using Statistical Softwares organized by the Division of Statistics & CS under the aegis of IDP SKUAST Jammu was culminated on 1st August 2022. The chief guest of the valedictory function Prof J. P. Sharma, Honorable Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu in his address stressed on proper execution of Statistics in collaboration with modern age computing is need of hour, and deliberated the importance of statistics in modern age scientific research.

Vijay Kumar, Head Assistant, Registrar’s Officer were felicitated for contribution in their respective fields. Prof. J. P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu congratulates all the retiring officials employees and wish them healthy and happy post retired life. The function was also attended by Dr. Sumati Sharma, Former Director, DRDO, ew Delhi; Dr. S. K.; Gupta, Registrar; Dr Rakesh Nanda, Director Education, Dr. S. E. H. Rizvi, Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences, Dr. A. K. Mondal, Dea, FoA, Sh. Madan Lal, Comptroller, Sh. Sohan Lal, Deputy Comptroller, Heads of the Division, Research Stations, Mega Seed Projects, Sr. Scientist and Heads of KVKs, Teaching faculty, non-teaching staff and students of SKUAST-J. Proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Ankur Rastogi, Professor, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Dr. Vivak M Arya, Associate Professor, FoA.
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Jammu has been sanctioned 09 projects of different disciplines of Agriculture and allied sciences under prestigious “Himalayan Bio-resource Mission” funded by Dept. of Biotechnology and Science and Heritage Research Initiative (SHRI) funded by Department of Science and Technology,Ministry of Science & Technology, GOI. Prof. (Dr) J P Sharma, Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu in his remarks congratulated the team of university scientists and staff for bagging these projects worth 8 crores and thanked Dept. of Biotechnology and Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, GOI for showing their faith in SKUAST-Jammu. Prof. Sharma said that bagging such projects will make the presence of SKUAST-Jammu felt at National and Global level.
Prof. J.P Sharma, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu inaugurated and operationalized the Carp Brood Stock Pond constructed at Fisheries Unit, Chatha campus under the NABARD funded Infrastructure development project entitled “Strengthening of existing fisheries infrastructure at SKUAST-Jammu to boost fish production”. Vice Chancellor said that fish seed production facilities in the shape of hatchery is a right approach to facilitate the availability of quality seed of cultivable carp species to the farmers and it will also boost the fish production of the Jammu region. He appreciated the efforts made by Fisheries Unit for the promotion of fishery sector.
A quick response team led by Dr. R.K.Bhardwaj, Associate Professor, Division of Veterinary Medicine along with PG scholars and Interns under the able guidance of Dr. Rajiv Singh, Professor & Head, Veterinary Medicine visited Goupar basti area of R.S.Pura for examination of animals suffering from skin disease as reported by Sarpanch of the area. Team examined animals from different household for skin disease. Affected animals had signs of fever, lameness, weakness, decreased milk yield and eruption of round raised nodules of various diameters on the skin all over the body.
To celebrate the festival of tree planting, Faculty of Agriculture, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) with Central Reserve Police Force-160 BN, celebrated `Van Mahotsav’ at Main Campus, Chatha on 27th of July, 2022. The plantation drive was initiated by Prof. J. P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, Chief Guest of the occasion, by planting Putranjiva sapling. Sh K D Joshi, Commandant, Central Reserve Police Force, who was Guest of Honour in the function, planted a sapling of Karanj. Prof J P Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST Jammu while addressing the officers, faculty members, students and CRPF personals laid emphasis on planting more trees during annual Van Mahotsav festival to mitigate the climate change effects and protection of the environment.
