Divisional level trainings for Holistic Agriculture Development Programme inaugurated at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, SKUAST-J, R S Pura. Dr. J. P. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu inaugurated the programme and advised for holistic development, global vision and local action. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor desired that the complete information and proper feed back is the key for successful implementation of the programme. He further desired that the message should be percolated to the end clientele i.e. farmers of J&K UT. He also stressed for participatory seed development programme to be initiated by the departments with the full participation of the farmers. The main focus should be given on achieving monitorable targets and capacity building/human resource development which is an important aspect to be considered along with technical, financial and infrastructural support for the success of this grand programme in the UT of J&K. He also told that this project is different in nature and will set an example for other states/UTs also.

Sharma organised an awareness lecture on ‘Breast and cervical cancer causes and management’ for NSS students of Faculty of Agriculture. Prof. J P Sharma Vice Chancellor called upon the students to be simple on choosing their diet and keep them fit and have a positive approach toward their goal. The invited guests were welcomed by offering bouquet of flower and presenting mementoes. Before the start of lecture the family of squadron leader Ravinder Kr Khanna who made supreme sacrifice during early days of militancy in Kashmir was honoured by presenting a memento and shawl to Mrs. Shalini Khanna wife of Squadron leader.

International Anticorruption Day and Heartfulness workshop Inaugurated at SKUAST-Jammu

International Anticorruption Day and Workshop on Heartfullness inaugurated today at Baba Jitto Auditorium of SKUAST-Jammu. The function was inaugurated by Sh. Rajinder Sharma, Hon’ble Mayor in the presence of Prof. J.P. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu. JMC Mayor during the address while talking about corruption and nepotism asked the college and university students to take the pledge in weeding out corruption from the society so that the common people do not suffer because of evils of the society. He also mentioned about Padh Yatra, which is first of its Kind in the whole country, and was also organized by Jammu municipal corporation.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jammu, under administrative control of SKUAST-Jammu working under the dynamic leadership of Prof J P Sharma Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and overall supervision of Dr S K Gupta Director Extension, organised World Soil Day in Collaboration with IFFCO Jammu at KVK Jammu, today to sensitize the stakeholders and being observed across the country. The programme was attended by Progressive farmers, including sarpanches, and panches. The program was organised in continuation to the various activities being undertaken by KVK Jammu for mass sensitization towards importance of Soil health Ecosystem. In continuation to celebration of ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’, NSS wing of SKUAST-Jammu, under the able guidance of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu Prof J.P.Sharma and Dean Students Welfare Prof. Rajesh Katoch, Celebrated ‘Constitution Day 2022’ to commemorate the day of adoption of Indian Constitution on 26 th November 1949. The programme began with welcome address by Dr.Subhash C Kashyap NSS Programme coordinator thereafter reading and reciting of preamble of Indian Constitution. On the occasion Prof. Rajesh Katoch delivered a lecture on the importance of celebration of Constitution Day’ and also called upon the students to read and understand the constitution to know about our fundamental rights and duties towards nation. He also spoke about the rights enjoyed by the citizens of India which makes the India a big democracy in the world. During the programme debate and singing of patriotic songs was also organised on the theme ‘India the mother of Democracy’ in which students and teachers took part with great enthusiasm.

Impressive Dog Show marked the 4th day of SKUAST-Jammu Krishak Mela

On the fourth day of ongoing five days Krishak Mela, being organized by SKUAST-Jammu, an impressive dog show was the main attraction in which ninety two enthusiastic pet owners registered themselves for the mega event, a unique event in Jammu region. Twenty-six registered dog breeds owned by pet lovers participated in the event. Prof. J.P. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu was the Chief Guest and Col. Mahan Singh, DDC , Kathua was the Guest of Honor in the prize distribution ceremony of the Dog Show. The show was being judged by Dr. C.S. Randhawa and Dr. Dheeraj Kumar. Overall championship prize went to ‘Falcon’ a German Shepherd dog breed owned by Mr. Anshu Bhat while in the category of most attractive dog, prizes were shared by Doberman of Rajnikant and Dogo Argentina of Taranpreet Kour. Prize for the most catchy dog went to Siberian Husky. The convenor of this mega event was Dr. Jasvinder Singh Soodan , Dean , Faculty of Dairy Technology cum Prof. & Head Division of Veterinary Clinical Complex, SKUAST-Jammu. The show was sponsored by vet pharma companies namely Vetoquinoles, Drools, Pedigree, Wiggles, Vetina, Amil Health Care, Sniffles, Himalayas, Rossaryv etc.

30 DAYS COURSE ON ORGANIC AND NATURAL FARMING STARTED AT SKUAST-JAMMU

National Centre for Organic and Natural Farming, Ghaziabad in collaboration with Sher-e- Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu organized 30 days certificate course for youth on Organic and Natural Farming. Prof. J.P.Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu was the Chief Guest of inaugural function at Smart Class Room of NAHEP-SKUAST IDP Jammu. He discussed the importance of organic farming in maintaining the soil health that excludes the use of synthetic inputs in farming and relies on on-farm inputs such as crop residues, farmyard manure, enriched composts, vermi-compost, oil cakes, bio- fertilizers etc for nutrient management of crops.
