
The 41st Annual Convention of the Indian Society for Veterinary Medicine (ISVMCON-2025) and National Conference was inaugurated today at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry (FVSc & AH), R.S. Pura, SKUAST-Jammu. This prestigious three-day event brings together leading veterinarians, researchers, academicians, and industry experts from across the country to deliberate on “Futuristic Approach in Animal Health Care and Welfare Through Specialty Medicine, Digital Health Technology, and Artificial Intelligence.”
The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Shiv Prasad Kimothi, Member, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB), who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, who has been instrumental in advancing veterinary research and academic excellence at SKUAST-J.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Kimothi emphasized the importance of digital technology and artificial intelligence in modern veterinary practices. He highlighted the need for farmer-centric veterinary research, ensuring that advancements in disease diagnostics, vaccine development, and precision medicine reach livestock owners effectively.
Delivering the presidential address, Prof. B.N. Tripathi underscored the role of One Health in veterinary medicine, stressing the interconnection between animal, human, and environmental health. He emphasized that rapid technology transfer from laboratory research to field applications is critical in addressing emerging zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and sustainable livestock farming. SKUAST-Jammu remains committed to bridging the gap between scientific research and practical applications, ensuring that the latest veterinary innovations reach the farmers and livestock keepers who need them most.
The conference commenced with a warm welcome note by Dr. Rajesh Katoch, Dean, FVSc & AH, SKUAST-Jammu, who expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guests, speakers, and participants. He reaffirmed SKUAST-Jammu’s commitment to advancing veterinary research and strengthening industry-academia collaboration.
Speaking on the conference theme, Dr. Jaswinder Soodan, Dean, College of Dairy Technology, SKUAST-Jammu, elaborated on the growing role of artificial intelligence, digital health tools, and specialty medicine in veterinary sciences. He stated that ISVMCON-2025 serves as a platform for experts to discuss emerging disease management strategies, AI-driven diagnostics, and sustainable animal healthcare solutions.
Prof. R. Ramprabhu, President, ISVM, provided insights into the history and evolution of the Indian Society for Veterinary Medicine (ISVM). He highlighted ISVM’s four-decade-long contribution to veterinary medicine, including policy advocacy, scientific research, and technology-driven veterinary practices. With ISVMCON-2025 setting the stage for groundbreaking deliberations and research collaborations, the event promises to drive advancements in animal healthcare, disease prevention, and veterinary education.

Further, Prof. R.V. Gaikwad, General Secretary, ISVM, spoke about the objectives and structure of ISVMCON-2025, emphasizing how this conference will foster scientific exchange, interdisciplinary collaborations, and technological innovations in veterinary medicine.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. S.R. Upadhyay, Organizing Secretary, ISVMCON-2025, who acknowledged the organizing committee, faculty members, and sponsors for their dedication in making this conference a grand success. He encouraged participants to engage in meaningful discussions, collaborations, and knowledge-sharing sessions throughout the three-day event.
