IAS officials denied Dubai visit by External Affairs Ministry, Kerala condemns Centre’s decision

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 9 : Kerala Industries Minister P Rajeev on Tuesday condemned the Union External Affairs Ministry’s decision to deny travel permission for two IAS officials to visit the ‘World Expo’ in Dubai.

“The External Affairs Ministry denied permission to Industries Principal Secretary Dr K Ilankovan and Industries Director S Harikishore. The officials were planning to visit Dubai from November 10 to 12 to make preliminary arrangements for setting up a ‘Kerala Pavilion’ at the Expo. The Centre’s decision is inappropriate,” the Minister said.

“Though the Centre has not pointed out any reason for denying travel permission, it suggests that the two Kerala officials can visit Dubai in the first week of December, if necessary.”

The World Expo, started in October last will continue till March 31, 2022. However, arrangements are being made to setup the ‘Kerala Pavilion’ from December 24, 2021 to January 6, 2022 aiming to exhibit the potential of tourism and industry in the State.
