IIM-Kashipur develops device to ward off animals with siren sound

Dehradun, Nov 29 : In order to solve the issue of man-animal conflict, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur, Uttarakhand, has developed a battery-operated device that senses the presence of an animal and drives it away using a siren sound.
“IIM-Kashipur has successfully conducted prototype testing of one of the products developed with the support of the Design Innovation Centre (DIC) to solve the issue of man-animal conflict,” Ayushi Jha, committee member of IIM, told UNI on Monday.
The idea for Paritranaya Prakrti, an automated product prototype, was given by Aalelai Vendhan, a student of BITS Pilani. It was developed into a prototype after multiple rounds of iterations with support from DIC, IIM Kashipur.
“The prototype works on battery power and can also be powered by solar energy in the future. It uses a PIR-based sensor and currently covers a distance of 12m with a field view of 100 degrees,”
