Cambodia’s Covid-19 caseload tops 120,000 with 32 new infections

Phnom Penh, Nov 25 (UNI/Xinhua) Cambodia’s Covid-19 case total has risen to 120,009 on Thursday after 32 fresh infections were confirmed in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in a statement.

The new infections included 25 domestic cases and seven imported ones, the MoH said, adding that four more fatalities were recorded, taking the overall death toll to 2,918.

The Southeast Asian nation launched a Covid-19 vaccination drive in February, with China being the key vaccine supplier.

MoH’s secretary of state and spokeswoman Or Vandine said that as of November 24, the kingdom had administered at least one vaccine dose to 14.11 million people aged five years old and above, or 88.2 percent of its 16-million population.

Of them, 13.26 million, or 82.9 percent, had been fully vaccinated with both required shots, and 2.18 million, or 13.6 percent, had received a booster dose, she said.

Most of the vaccines used in the country’s immunisation program are China’s Sinovac and Sinopharm.
