France supports India for permanent seat at UNSC

New Delhi, (UNI) Ambassador of France to India Emmanuel Lenain on Wednesday said his country strongly supports India and the G4 in their bid for a permanent seat in a reformed United Nation Security Council.

“France strongly supports India and the G4 in their bid for a permanent seat in a reformed UNSC”, the French envoy wrote on twitter sharing a media report.

India is set to join the UNSC as a non-permanent member from next year.

India and France close ties with the recent example of purchasing Rafale Aircraft.

The five permanent members of the UNSC are China, France, Russian Federation, the United Kingdom, and the United States with each having a veto power.

The ten non-permanent members are elected for two-year terms by the General Assembly.
