NEW DELHI, July 29, 2025 тАУ Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav has sharply criticized the BJP-led city administration for failing to prepare for the monsoon season. He said Tuesday’s downpour brought Delhi to a standstill, exposing poor infrastructure planning as roads across the capital were choked with traffic and businesses, including those in Connaught Place, faced water intrusion.
Yadav noted that Delhi Congress had repeatedly cautioned the Rekha Gupta Government to complete desilting work of drains well before the rains. Despite multiple deadline extensions, the Public Works Department (PWD) failed to act in time. As a result, daily life was thrown into disarray in several areas like ITO, Dhaula Kuan, Patel Nagar, and Kingsway Camp, which were all heavily waterlogged.
He further stated that every year, rains highlight administrative failure, yet the government deflects blame onto lower officials rather than addressing ministerial negligence. Yadav also questioned the purpose of the CMтАЩs monthly review meetings and action reports, calling them ineffective, as thereтАЩs been no visible improvement in public services or project execution under the current leadership.
