Akhilesh questions Yogi on power plants

Lucknow, Feb 20 (UNI) Samajwadi president Akhilesh Yadav here on Saturday questioned the number of power plants established during the current Bharatiya Janata Party rule in Uttar Pradesh as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called SP members as “thieves who do not like moonlight”.
Mr Yadav alleged that Mr Adityanath’s language on the floor of the House was objectionable as he called SP members “thieves who do not like moonlight, as they rob in the darkness of the night.”
“The SP members want to ask Mr Adityanath on the number of thermal supercritical plants established, transmission lines laid and substations were built,” the former chief minister asked. He averred that due to the power plants installed during the tenure of the SP government, there is a lot of power in Uttar Pradesh, but the public is suffering from expensive electricity. The Yogi government talks about investment, but due to the cost of electricity, investment can never come in the state.
On farmers’ issues, the SP president said the Chief Minister should answer if he could provide the MSP for paddy. “Even today, the farmers are waiting for the sugarcane dues. Farmers have been destroyed in the BJP government. The government wants a few corporates to control farming and farmers and poor people are being harmed for this,” he alleged. The former UP CM averred that the new building for the police, metro rail, expressways are all because of the SP government and the Yogi government is only busy in inaugurations and laying foundation stones.
“The Chief Minister talked about starting metro rail in his home district Gorakhpur but no work has been done in this direction so far. Even today, the metro covers the same distance in Lucknow as was completed during the SP’s tenure,” he claimed.Commenting on the rising petrol-diesel prices, he said that nobody knows where the money is going.
The public has been burdened with tax imposed on petrol-diesel to hide losses and failures. “Inflation increases with diesel and petrol. The medium, poor peasants have been burdened. The people are contemplating on what to save and what to eat.”
The SP leader said his party distributed laptops which benefited the students during the online classes in the lockdown period.
Mr Yadav also presented a laptop to a bright student Minish. The Bronze-medalist is pursuing M Tech from Wireless Communication Engineering at IIT Kanpur.
