ITBP to hold first ever ‘Fit India Mission-200 KMs March’ in Jaisalmer on Saturday

New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) Over 100 officials of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) will participate in 200 km march or walkathon organised by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to promote the ‘Fit India Campaign of the Union Sports Ministry at Jaisalmer in Rajasthan on October 31.

Apart from ITBP, the march will have representation from BSF, CRPF, NDRF, RAF, Assam Rifles, NSG and Rajasthan Police, MP Police under the leadership of ITBP DG S S Deswal.

At the occasion the Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Kiren Rijiju will be the Chief Guest and he will flag off the event from Nathuwala while actor and martial artist Vidyut Jammwal will also be part of the event.
The three-day fitness awareness march will be launched on the National Unity Day, the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, as a tribute to him and to spread the message of national unity.

According to the ITBP officials, the Fit India march will start from Nathuwala village on 31 October and this will follow the route through sand dunes (desert) of Sakhirewala, Bhuttewala, Katoch and will be completing the 200 KMs distance at River Division (RD) 1458 on November 2. Many Kilometers en route will be desert and most of the march track will run along the International Boundary including Kishangarh fort.

In past too, ITBP DG Deswal undertook and has led many speed marches to inspire the Forces personnel.

Mr Deshwal, along with senior officials of the Force, has undertaken dozens of long route and speed marches in the Himalayas and on seaside areas of the country including march to Lipulekh Pass, Sangla Valley of 103 Kms, Auli Tapovan, Gangotri Tapovan, Bhuj, Konark-Puri, Rajasthan and Punjab Borders, Mission 100 Kilometers in Jodhpur-Bikaner and Valley of flowers besides many other routes.

These marches were aimed at spreading the ‘Fit India’ mission and to promote the youth to engage in more physical exercises to remain fit. Plogging and Swachhta campaigns will also done in between, the ITBP informed.
