IIT Guwahati, IRS to collaborate on underwater technologies

Guwahati, April 25 : Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati on Monday signed a pact with the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) to collaborate on training, design, and manufacturing with a core emphasis on underwater technologies. According to the memorandum of understanding (MoU) IIT Guwahati Technology Innovation and Development Foundation (IITG TIDF) and IRS will jointly run training and certification programmes and workshops. The goal of these programmes will be to develop qualified human resources and research personnel with industry-aligned competencies in technologies of Underwater design and manufacturing. Prof. T. G. Sitharam, Director of IIT Guwahati and Chairperson, BoD of IITG TIDF, said, "In addition to developing technology, we are working on skill development. It is our pleasure to work with the IRS on training, design, and manufacturing." Dr. Asokendu Samanta, Vice President and Divisional Head of Research & Development Division at IRS, said, "This collaborative effort allows us to expand our training and certification programmes as we look to build key skills in a rapidly developing area of the industry. Positive development on AFSPA in 2022 for Assam: Himanta

Guwahati, Jan 1 : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said some positive developments are expected on the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, the act in the year 2022 for Assam. “As far as AFSPA is concerned, Assam will see some rationalising in 2022 ... "To take this goodwill gesture ahead, I have directed Assam Police to withdraw FIR against K Vanlalvena, Hon'ble MP, Rajya Sabha from Mizoram. However, cases against other accused police officers will be pursued (sic),"
