Tokyo, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) Tokyo stocks advanced Monday morning as investor sentiment was bolstered by reports that US President Donald Trump is recovering after testing positive for COVID-19 last week and may be discharged from hospital on Monday. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 310.62 points, or 1.35 percent, from Friday to 23,340.52. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 29.99 points, or 1.86 percent, at 1,639.21. Mining, land transportation and insurance-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
