Center’s new land laws show real intentions of BJP: CPI(M)

Srinagar, Oct 27 (UNI) The CPI (M) on Tuesday alleged that the Centre’s new land laws, paving the way for outsiders to buy land in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, has ‘once again shown the real intentions of the BJP government to revoke Articles 370 and 35A’.

“We oppose the new law tooth and nail. The only intention to abolish the Constitution of J&K and revoked Articles 370 and 35A was to change the demography of Jammu and Kashmir. Now with such laws everything becomes clearer. It is an eye-opener for those who still have illusions with the BJP government’s intentions towards Jammu and Kashmir,” CPI(M) J&K Secretary Ghulam Nabi Malik said in a statement issued here on Tuesday evening.

“When Maharaja Hari Singh was ruling J&K in 1927, Dogras and Kashmiri Pandits, who were more educated, got domicile guarantees. They ensured that no outsiders come and buy land in J&K or get jobs. The Maharaja brought State Subject in 1927 and made it into a law. No one objected then,” .

He said the August 5, 2019 decision of the Center to abrogate Articles 35-A and 370 is pending before the Supreme Court and bringing new laws at the moment is akin to contempt of the court. “How can government of India issue any order when the matter is sub-judice,” .

“The arbitrary decision of the BJP government to revoke Articles 35-A and 370 was the murder of democracy and an attack on the Constitution. The BJP violated the norms to convert J&K State into a Union Territory overnight without the consent of the stakeholders. The Centre was defying all democratic norms to achieve its objects,” .
“The manner in which the government of India is dealing with J&K is a grave warning about the danger posed to erstwhile state’s rights and federalism. Such moves have to be unitedly opposed for the welfare of the people of erstwhile state of J&K and integrity of the country,” .
