COVID-19: 177 new cases reported in P’cherry in 24 hours

Puducherry, Oct 18 (UNI) As many as 177 more persons were tested positive for COVID-19 in the union territory in the last 24 hours, a health bulletin stated on Sunday. The union territory presently has 4,277 active cases here with no deaths being reported in the last 24 hours.
According to the bulletin, 131 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 24 in Karaikal, 6 in Yanam and 16 in Mahe region. As many as 306 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours. 207 of them were from Puducherry region, 54 from Karaikal, 13 from Yanam and 32 from Mahe region.

Presently, 1384 persons are being treated in Puducherry region,67 in Karaikal,39 in Yanam and 68 in Mahe region. Another 2719 positive cases are under home isolation in all the four regions of the union territory. So far,33141 persons are infected by the virus of which 28290 were treated and discharged and 574 died leaving 4277 active cases here.
The case fatality rate in the UT is 1.73 per cent and recovery rate 85.36 per cent.
