Covid-19: Meghalaya government announced that all the entry points will be shut for one week each month

Amid the rise of Covid-19 cases in Meghalaya, the state government on 20th August decided to shut all the border entry points to the state for 1 week each month.The government of Meghalaya has decided to implement this form September till next three months.

“Government has decided to close all entry points to Meghalaya for 1 week every month in the next 3 months starting September 2020.”

Conrad Sangma said: “This is being done to release the burden on the state’s health workers, frontline workers and the administration of districts engaged in intensive surveillance for Covid-19,” tweeted Conrad Sangma, Meghalaya’s Chief Minister

The Meghalaya government is planning strategy for long-term management of coronavirus in the state by involving all the legislators, community bodies and citizens.

Conrad Sangma informed that the meeting will be conducted with MLAs of East Khasi Hills district to take this plan forward.

So far Meghalaya has reported 1,535 Covid-19 positive cases. The state registered 78 new coronavirus caseson Thursday out of which 35 were BSF personnel.

Until now, six people have died by getting deadly infected by virus and 725 have been recovered in the state.
