Guru Nanak Dev birth anniv: Hans Raj Hans performs Sufi songs

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) Lok Sabha MP and Padmashri Hans Raj Hans on Sunday performed Sufi songs during the 550th birth anniversary commemoration celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev.
Under the commemoration celebrations of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, a musical evening was organised by the Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts (IGNCA), under the aegis of Ministry of Indian Culture. Mr Hans worshiped Shri Guru Nanak Dev, and gave a beautiful performance in the Sufi style.
Inaugurating the programme, Minister of State (I/C) Culture and Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel said,”Guru Nanak is the ideal of the world and his teachings are relevant even today.”
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Mr Patel said,”Today, Padmashri, MP @hansrajhansHRH ji recited and mesmerized everyone by singing of Sufi songs in a musical evening organised by @MinOfCultureGoI in @ignca_delhi on the 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.”
In the programme, Dr Sachchidanand Joshi, member secretary gave a detailed description of the events held throughout the year, describing the series of conferences, lectures and poetry sessions organised in different places of the country like in North East India, Assam, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Vadodara, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Haryana, Panipat, Chandigarh-programmes are being held continuously, in which the poetry, lectures etc are being organised as well as, new books are being released on Guru Nanak Dev.
Mr Joshi also informed that over due to Corona pandemic 150 poets and lecturers of various universities, colleges, senior social activists and scholars of Sikhism, attended more than 20 poetry events online, on various aspects of Guru Nanak.
The event was made live via Facebook and the event was organised with a limited number of 50 people under the Covid-19 protocols.
