India’s records spike of over 78 k new cases, recovery rate 76.98 pc

New Delhi, Sep 2 (UNI) India on Wednesday registered a spike of 78,357 new COVID cases and 1045 deaths during the past 24 hours while the recovery rate witnessed an improvement and stood at 76.98 per cent.

According to the Health Ministry update, as many as 62,026 recoveries were registered in the past one day from the viral infection.

Cured/discharged patients across the country have now increased past 29 lakh mark, and the figure now stands at 29,01,908 so far, the government data said.

The overall tally of the COVID cases have now crossed 37 lakh mark , with the figure standing at 37,69,523 at present.Active case load on the country at present stands at 8,01,282.

Fatality count of the nation so far has mounted to 66,333, after 1045 more people died due to the virus since Tuesday, and the fatality rate has now come down to 1.76 per cent on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that it has conducted 10,12,367 tests in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 4,43,37,201 till date.
