Inter-Ministerial Committee taking Sudarshan TV show case: Govt tells SC

New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) The Government on Monday informed the Supreme Court that an Inter-Ministerial Committee has given certain recommendations to Sudarshan News channel for its controversial program over minorities in prestigious civil services.

The Government also informed the bench headed by D Y Chandrachud that it had already issued a notice to the channel on September 23 and a reply was received from the channel.

Post-reply, proceedings were initiated by Inter-Ministerial Committee where the channel was given full opportunity to hear the case, Solicior General Tushar Mehta told the court.

Following the proceedings, the committee gave certain recommendations to the news channel, Mehta said.

Hearing the submissions, the bench also comprising Indu Malhotra and Indira Banerjee, posted the matter for further hearing on October 26.

Sudharshan news ran into controversy after it aired several episodes of “Bindass Bol” despite the Supreme Court’s stay over it.
