Parliamentarians pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries

New Delhi, Oct 2 (UNI) Parliamentarians on Friday paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries.

Industries & Public Enterprises Arjun Ram Meghwal and Chairperson, Committee on Public Accounts Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury led the parliamentarians in paying floral tributes at the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri in the Central Hall of Parliament House on Friday on the occasion of their birth anniversaries.

Among others who paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri were several Members of Parliament and former Members of Parliament. Lok Sabha Secretary-General Snehlata Shrivastava also paid floral tributes on the occasion.

The portrait of Mahatma Gandhi was unveiled in the Central Hall on August 28, 1947 by the President of the Constituent Assembly of India Dr Rajendra Prasad, while the portrait of Lal Bahadur Shastri was unveiled on October 2 1993 by the then President Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma.
