Plantation Drive kick started at SKUAST-Jammu

Dean Student Welfare SKUAST Jammu today inaugurated maiden plantation drive organised by Lakshay Boys hostel SKUAST Jammu. Amid global climate crisis India has committed itself to net zero by 2070 and one of the major facets of it is national mission for green India, remarked the Prof. Sudhakar Dwivedi, Dean Student Welfare, SKUAST-Jammu & Prof. Rajesh Katoch, Dean FVSc & AH. In this regard Professor Sudhakar Diwidi conducted an awareness camp and simultaneously a plantation drive for the first time by planting saplings of pear, orange, pomegranate, lichi etc. He emphasised on the importance of vegetation cover in sustaining life on earth and academic institutions must rise to the occasion to undertake the role of torchbearers for the people particularly young growing minds.

Professor Rajesh Katoch, Dean FVSc & AH, Prof. Sudhakar Dwivedi, Dean Student welfare, Dr. Puneet Choudary Chief Scientist and Head, KVK Jammu, Dr.A.K. Panday Warden Lakshay boys hostel, Dr. Sharad Kumar Deputy Warden, PG Scholars, UG students actively participated in the said drive. Meanwhile it is pertinent to mention that Dean FVsc & AH along with Dean Student Welfare promised for the more such drives where fodder plants will be grown along with fruits to meet the nutritional requirement of livestock.
