New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen on Monday held a virtual summit in an effort to take forward the bilateral relations between the two nations.
Speaking about the Covid vaccine, Mr Modi said cooperation between like-minded countries in vaccine development will help in dealing with this pandemic.
‘‘During this pandemic, India’s pharma production capabilities have been useful to the entire world. We are doing the same in the field of vaccine,’’ he said.
‘‘This is also the effort of our ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India)’ campaign to increase India’s capabilities in key economic sectors and also serve the world,’’ the prime minister said.
‘‘Covid-19 has shown that it is risky for Global Supply Chains to be highly dependent on any single source,’’ Mr Modi said.
‘‘We are working together with Japan and Australia for supply-chain diversification and resilience. Other like-minded countries can also join this effort,’’ the prime minister added.
He also congratulated his Danish counterpart on her wedding.
“I congratulate you on your wedding. I hope that soon after Covid-19 situation improves, we will get a chance to welcome you and your family to India. I am sure your daughter must be eager to visit India again,” Mr Modi said.
Meanwhile, Danish Prime Minister Frederiksen said, “Today’s summit marks for Denmark a milestone on our bilateral relations, and our forward-looking agreement on green strategic partnership. We are proud that India looks at Denmark when it comes to the climate changes.”
