Nakodar, Sep 3 (UNI) The Mehatpur police have booked six villagers on the charge brewing and selling illicit country made liquor.
Investigating Officer (IO) Tarlochan Singh said one lakh kgs of Lahan (raw liquor) and utensils for brewing were seized from the possession of the accused, identified as Gurmit Singh and Surjit Singh of Dharme Dian Chhana village, Shhindi, Daler Singh and Makit Singh of Vehran village and Kuldip Singh of Akuwal village in Ludhiana.
A case under sections 61/1/14 of the Punjab Excise Act has been registered against the accused.
The Bilga police booked unidentified persons for brewing illicit liquor and recovered from them 1800 litres of Lahan, said Investigating Officer Pardip Singh.
