Record 11.72 lakh COVID-19 tests conducted on Wednesday

New Delhi, Sep 3 (UNI) In a bid to halt the sweeping global Covid-19 pandemic, India conducted a total of 11,72,179 tests on Wednesday. India had earlier this week become the third country in the world to have more than 1 million Covid tests in a day.

Amid the renewed wave of fresh Corona onslaught, investigations, treatments and contact detection are being constantly emphasised for its prevention.

According to data released on Thursday by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), record tests of 11,72,179 samples wer conducted on Wednesday.

Till September 2, a total of four crore 55 lakh nine thousand 380 samples of Coronavirus have been tested. On Tuesday, one million 12 thousand 367 samples were tested. This is the fourth time within a fortnight that more than a million samples of Covid have been tested in a day.

Earlier, a record 10,55,027 samples were tested in the country on August 29 and 10 million 23 thousand 836 corona were tested on August 21.
