Hamirpur (HP), Oct 7 : The annual Sharad Navratras started at all the temples of Ma Durga in various parts of the state on Thursday amidst strict COVID protocols but with traditional fervor and devotion.
The temples of Ma Durga are located in all parts of the state but main rush is seen at the temples of Ma Jwalaji and Ma Chamunda in Kangra district; Ma Chintapurni in Una district; Ma Balasundri in Nahan and Ma Naina Devi in Bilaspur district.
There was a heavy rush of Ma devotees paying their respects to the Deity in all temples amidst security measures taken by the concerned district administrations.
People offered flowers, fruits, cash, halwa and other food items in the temples and sought Ma’s blessings.
However, no one was allowed to remain inside the temple for more than a minute amidst social distancing measures.
No one was allowed to offer coconuts in the temples, especially in the temple of Ma Chintpurni in the Una district.
There was a complete ban on holding of langars (free food distribution) and no one was allowed to enter the main sanctum of the temples during the Aarti.
An official spokesman claimed that there was heavy rush of the people offering puja in the temples across the state and the overall situation was under control. No unwanted case was reported from any part of the state so far, he added.
He said that the temples were opened at 4.00 A.M and would remain open till 10.00 P.M till the ending of the Navratri festivals.
Navratri is a significant Hindu festival that is observed over nine nights and 10 days during which nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped. The festival marks the victory of good over evil.
As per the Mahakala Samhita, there are four Navratri in the Vedic calendar named Sharad Navratri, Chaitra Navratri, Magha Gupta Navratri and Ashadha Gupta Navratri. The Navratri that usually falls in September-October is known as Sharad Navratri. It is the most significant Navratri that is celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm across the country.
