Telangana records 1,708 new COVID-19 positive cases

Hyderabad, Oct 13 (UNI) The COVID-19 cases continue to spike in Telangana with the state recording 1,708 new positive cases till 2000 hours on Monday pushing the cumulative number of cases to 2,14,792 so far.
The overall toll climbed to 1,233 till date as five more COVID-19 deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours constituting a recovery rate of 0.57 per cent as against the countrywide recovery rate of 1.5 per cent, according to a state health department bulletin on Tuesday.
The number of patients recuperated between Sunday and Monday was 2,009 taking the number of total recoveries in the state so far to 1,89,351 with a recovery rate of 88.15 while the National recovery rate was 86.8 per cent.
Of the 46,835 swab samples tested during the last 24 hours to detect the contagious virus, the reports of 1,034 swab samples were pending, the bulletin said.
So far, 36,24,096 COVID-19 tests had been carried out in the state since the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic.
The bulletin informed that the number of active cases in the state now was 24,208.
As usual, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits contributed maximum cases of 277 followed by its neighbouring districts-Rangareddy (137) and Medchal Malkajigiri (124).
The remaining fresh cases were registered from other districts, the bulletin added.
