Odisha STF apprehends a wildlife criminal,recovers leopard skin

Bhubaneswar, May 6 : The STF of Odisha police on Friday apprehended a wildlife criminal and seized leopard skin from his possession. STF sources said on the basis of reliable information, a team of STF conducted a raid with the help of Bolangir Forest Officials on Thursday evening in between Tikrapada-Saintala under Saintala police station in Bolangir district and nabbed Adikand Gheewala. During the search, one leopard skin and other incriminating materials were recovered from his possession. Adikand could not produce any authority in support of the possession of Leopard Skin.

Bhubaneswar, April 21 : Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday approved 196 posts for 28 Permanent Police outposts to strengthen the law and order situation in the state. Chief Minister's office sources said the posts included 28 Sub Inspectors and 168 Constables. The posts were created by way of redistribution and will be filled up as per the provisions of the ORV Act and all employment rules. The new Police officers and employees will be appointed in 28 Police outposts of the state. In every outpost one Sub Inspector and six constables will be appointed. They would be entrusted with various responsibilities beginning from maintaining law and order to investigation of various crimes in their area of operation.

Bhubaneswar, Dec 26 : Poverty rate in Odisha will be reduced below ten per cent in next five years, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said on Sunday. Addressing the 25th foundation day function of the BJD, Mr Patnaik said there was a great difference between Odisha in 2000 and now. The state, he claimed is ahead in the whole country in reducing poverty.

Health and family Welfare department sources said all these 48 deaths were reported from 18 districts of the state with Khordha district registering the highest number of seven deaths.

Bhubaneswar, May 25 (UNI) Over 60,000 people were evacuated by 1000 hours today from the vulnerable areas of coastal Odisha as severe cyclonic storm Yaas over Bay of Bengal further intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm and likely to move further close to Chandbali- Dhamra port. Special Relief Commissioner P K Jena said the evacuation process is still going on in the most vulnerable five districts and some adjoining districts likely to be affected by cyclone Yaas.
